The National Archery in Schools Program promotes student education, physical education and participation in the life long sport of Archery. The program's focus is to provide international style target archery training in physical education classes, grades 4-12. The curriculum covers archery safety, equipment, technique, concentration skills, and self improvement.
The program objectives are to:
- Improve self-confidence, motivation, concentration and focus
- Encourages students to exhibit task-on behaviour resulting in fewer discipline
- problems and success in their inter-personal relationships
- Improve academic performance and increased attendance in Physical
- Education classes
- Increase student interest in hunting and shooting sports
The archery equipment used in the typical PE class is a kit consisting of:
- 11 bows (ten right-hand and one left-hand)
- five-dozen arrows
- five targets
- bow rack
- an arrow restraint net (30' L x 8'3" H)
- archery repair kit
