"Winter Wanderer" -- a 16" X 20" water colour of a snowy
owl by Salmon Arm artist, Valerie
Rogers, was judged as the 2008 BC Wildlife Federation Artist of the Year at the
association's annual convention in April 2007.
The BC Wildlife Federation's "Artist of the Year" program was developed in 1992. The goal of this program is to select an Artist whose work exhibits the beauty of BC's fish, wildlife and habitats. The sale of these limited edition art prints continues to fund BCWF conservation projects throughout the province and at the same time recognize the talent of BC artists.
This year we experienced triple the number of entries and a wide range of art forms in addition to the traditional paintings. This year's finalists will be showcased at the BCWF 51st AGM/Convention in Dawson Creek April 18-21, 2007 where the winner will be voted by the BCWF members.
Birds seemed to be very popular in this year's competition although there were numerous bears, wolves, and other wildlife and scenic submissions. The judging panel facilitated by Artist of the Year Chair, Brian Bell found it even more difficult than usual to select just 3 finalists. They are, in no particular order:

Valerie Rogers for "Winter Wanderer"
16" X 20" Water Colour
The BCWF is the largest and longest standing, province-wide, voluntary and locally funded conservation organization in British Columbia and is the voice of conservation-committed anglers and hunters. The BCWF consists of 30,000 members and 130 clubs in all areas of the province
