with Cattails and other high grasses thatyou came across on a hike one Sunday
afternoon? Or have you driven past it on thehighway, a big lonely puddle that
caught your sympathetic eye?
Wetlands are diverse across the world and are meaningful to people for different
reasons.Wetlands play a very important role in our ecosystems to clean our drinking
water,reduce risks and impacts of floods and are a crucial habitat for many plant
and wildlifespecies. Most aspects of the natural environment that we enjoy for
recreation and foreveryday life and dependent on healthy
wetlands!

The Wetlands Update is an annual publication that provides infor-
mation of events, courses and general happenings of the BCWF’s
Wetlands Education Program.
The Wetlands Education Program (WEP) was created in 1996 to
deliver quality wetland education that builds the capacity of indi-
viduals and groups to assess their wetland assets, and, using this
new knowledge, increase community health. BCWF prides itself
on community based wetland education programs that increase the
capacity of individuals to steward wetlands in their own backyards!
